The Dwarfstar has its uses, namely cloaked transport and mine sweeping, however it is not usually made in significant quantities. It is the only original Privateer ship design that can survive a single minehit (due to minefields dealing their damage as if the ship was 1kT more in mass), but it will be left crippled at 99% damage.
