Short Format is a new format at Planets.nu for Blitz games, Dogfights, 2v2 Blitz, and as an option for games with 100 planets or fewer.

Short format is meant to address race imbalances in small games.


Race Differences from Standard

Up to date as of January, 2022.

Lizard

  • Mining rate nerfed, now at 150% instead of 200%.
  • Hiss does not stack (can only be done by 1 ship per planet).

Bird

  • Tax revenue increased +50%.

Privateer

  • Gains the Shock Troops ability (privateer get 5:1 ratio for ground attack).

Cyborg

  • Gets double native assimilation rate.
  • The 20% native tax limit is removed.
  • "Chunnel Stabilization Field" generated on the entire map (stargate technology). This stabilization field makes the minimum chunnel distance only 1 ly. It also allows your chunnel-capable ships (Firecloud, B222b) to initiate a chunnel after movement. This means the chunneling ship does not have to be at warp 0. The target ship must still be at warp 0, however.

Evil Empire

  • Gets 15 free fighters at starbase every turn, instead of 5.
