Covert Data Link is a new Bird Campaign ability introduced in 2022. To use it, the Bird player must change his FC to "spy" above a foreign planet. CDL will then change the Bird ship's friendly code to match the planet's FC.
This will allow the Bird ship to pass through any minefields with the same friendly code as the planet. A minefield will have the FC to the planet nearest to its center.
