Planets Limit Ships

Planets Limit Ships (or "PLS") is a new ship limit type at Planets.nu. Instead of the traditional 500-ship global limit, players are instead limited in their ship count by the number of planets they control. So if a player has 50 planets under their control, they can build 50 ships (using default settings). This allows ships to be built throughout the game, instead of the usual frenzy of shipbuilding that happens before ship limit hits (usually around turn 30 in competitive games).

PLS was a feature that was requested by players in the forums, and ultimately implemented by the admins. It is typically used in "Lone Wolf"-style (no-diplomacy games), though is also found in other custom games, on both large and small maps.

PLS games tend to be like wars of attrition, in that you are constantly losing ships and then replacing them with new ones. As a result, they have a very different feel from normal Planets games.

Custom Settings

You can customize your PLS settings based on your preference. Planets can confer 0.5, 1 or 1.5 ships per planet controlled. You can also set a "minimum ships" value, where you are allowed to build at least this many ships, regardless of the number of planets you control. There is also an "extra ships" value, which will add ship slots for you in addition to the number of ship slots gained from owning planets.
